Your new Bamboo Mountain™ prefinished bamboo floor is very durable and easy to maintain. By following a few simple steps, you will help protect your flooring investment for many years to come!
1. Prefinished flooring should be one of the last items installed in any new construction or remodel. The floor can be scratched and damaged by people installing or working with heavy equipment, machinery, and objects directly on the newly installed floor.
2. Vacuum and sweep your bamboo floor regularly. Use vacuum cleaners with attachments safe for prefinished hardwood floors and use soft bristle mop-style brooms.
3. Wipe up all spills (including water leaks and spills) immediately.
4. Install protection pads underneath all furniture feet. When furniture and/or appliances need to be moved, always lift the object instead of sliding across the floor. Office chairs should be placed on a flat protector mat to avoid damaged caused by exposed wheels.
5. Place rugs and/or mats near every entry door to help reduce the amount of abrasive elements tracked into homes (such as dirt, grit, etc). Also place mats in front of any water source, such as sinks, showers, bath tubs, etc. Area rugs should have a non-abrasive backing.
6. Limit direct sunlight on the bamboo floor by utilizing window coverings, and rotating area rugs. Sunlight will cause the floor to discolor over time. Sunlight will cause the natural color to slightly darken, and the carbonized color to slightly lighten.
7. The following shoe styles are known to damage most hardwood floors, including bamboo flooring: high heels, stiletto heels, work boots, athletic cleats, and shoes that have lodged rocks, sand, or pebbles.
8. Do keep a few exta planks of flooring after your installation in the case that planks need replacement. These may also be used for matching finishes for simple repairs.
9. For unforeseen scratches or nicks on the surface of the flooring finish, repairs may be made by sanding and touching up with one (1) or more top finish coats of BonaKemi USA Traffic or Mega Swedish floor finishes.
10. When you notice the floor sheen has gradually decreased over time, applying one (1) or more top finish coats of BonKemi USA Traffic or Mega Swedish floor finish will give the floor the protection it needs, while remaining in accordance with the Bamboo Mountain warranty.
